Here is a sound clip of the 000 12 fret cutaway I completed back in October...

https://soundcloud.com/sdsollod/000-12-sound-clip

This is an original tune that I have yet to name. It is in open D tuning, Capo at second position, key of E. It was recorded without effects with a Zoom H2 recorder. Not my best performance, but you can see how this thing sounds. I am surprised at how much low end there is. Contributing factors could be the sound port and the fact that it is a 12 fretter. Currently, I am using light strings. The 12 fret configuration makes the action kinda "springy". In some way I like that but I am used to more "resistance". I may try mediums to see what that does. Here's the original post... viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=46586

That's certainly turned out well!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

The guitar itself sounds great, but you need to get that high E's action a bit higher... too much fret rattle.

As for the feel of the strings, is it a different scale length than you're used to? AFAIK, the joining fret shouldn't make any difference to the string feel. Soundboard stiffness does, though. And of course the low action makes the strings feel more flexible.
